You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.
-Dr. Seuss, You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.
The world inspires and we breath it all in. In my reading this week of Dr. Seuss & Mr. Geisel, I saw that Seuss and his wife, "...counted thirty nations to which they had traveled in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, and they kept spinning the globe for more... because Ted[Dr. Seuss] felt they sparked his creativity" (Morgan 79). This really got me thinking about how if you stay in the same place your whole life you'll never really find inspiration. It's kind of like staring at the same wall for 20 years and waiting for something new to be there. Try stepping away from the wall for a second and seeing the beauty of the others. Not everything is going to be how you are used to it being, but that's okay. Seeing different nations and cultures would really be beneficial to anyone. Many people live in this mindset that there is one right and one wrong. How could that ever be possible? Just because what someone does isn't what you do doesn't make it wrong. Open yourself up to the possibilities the world has just waiting for you. Buy a plane ticket and travel to new lands because your imagination is waiting. Are you ready to open your eyes?
I really love hearing, or in this case, reading about other people's lives because it kind of gives me some insight on what makes us all different. If you're anything like me I think you'd love this book. I've noticed through this whole process that the authors are very straight forward about what they would like to tell the reader, but they do this in a way that doesn't bore you to death. Each week I just take time for myself and maybe grab a cup of tea so I can just read in the nice silence and it kind of just takes me away from everything even if it's just for 30 minutes. The utter silence and solitude really just helps me focus and lets my mind go wild with thoughts. That's all I have to say for this week, but...
Thanks for reading,
Jenn
